Fairly good dustwrapper which is worn and torn especially at edges and has lots of foxing.  Inscription on fep. Colour Frontis.

Pauline lived in Jamaica, an island of flowers and sunshine, bright colours and smiling faces.  She could not help seeing that there was ugliness and suffering there, as well as beauty and gaiety; and she wanted to help poor children, lone old people and neglected animals.

But Pauline, although she thought of herself as a Christian, had no sympathy for a girl in her own class at school:  she saw Jennifer only as a liar and a thief who had played her a mean trick, and was determined to pay her out.  Jennifer was not the only one to have learned a lesson, by the end of this absorbing story.
