The Cotswold village of Astercote was wiped out in the fourteenth century by the Black Death but traces of it still lie hidden in the wood belonging to Tranter's farm.  When Makir Jenkins and her brother Peter enter this forbidden territory they find themselves caught up in an atmosphere of medieval superstition.
