Dilly Goes To Ambergate

Published 2011

Spine and corners bumped.

Dilly Fielding leaves Graydon Orphanage for her first term at Ambergate, a famous school to which she has won a scholarship. She has longed for the freedom away from the orphanage but with the freedom and the advantages and fun of the day-to–day work and sport come the difficulties. Dilly must struggle to reach a standard of behaviour far removed from that of Graydon. Her proud and obstinate moods and hot temper bring trouble at first, and make it hard for girls to be friendly. Throughout the misunderstandings and complications of this term Dilly is comforted by the friendship of class-mate Jane, and by the love of Jane’s family for her, and it is they who bring her to the greatest happiness she has ever known.
