GGBP first published Gay from China at the Chalet School in July 2007, over 16 years ago.
How Gay Lambert fought and won her battle against the tyrannical, temporary, headmistress, Miss Bubb, who was appointed in haste after a terrible accident injured the senior members of staff, is told in this story of the Chalet School.
Gay had a stout heart but a kind one, and did much to cheer her new friend, Jacynth Hardy. Without a doubt the reader will agree with the girls of the Chalet School in making “Gay from China” the deserving winner of the Margot Venables Prize for ‘the girl who has done most to help other people.’
Katherine Bruce has written the short story for this edition, ‘A Shocking Beginning to the Term’.
