Heather Leaves School is the fifth title in the La Rochelle series. Heather Raphael is brought home from Ripley School to have lessons under a governess and this seems to be the end of the world. Before her new schooling starts, the family go on holiday to Guernsey where Janie Temple (familiar to Chalet School readers as Janie Lucy) helps Heather to see that life under a governess will not be all bad. And so it turns out, although all is not resolved until Janie and Pauline Ozanne come for Christmas with the Raphaels and a very smart capture is made.
Helen Barber has written an incredibly moving short story, The Fugitive, set during WW2, which manages to successfully look back at the holiday in Guernsey in Heather Leaves School as well as giving thought to what could have happened to a much loved character, dropped by EBD
