Lakeland Vet

1978 reprint

Rubbing to edges and corners bumped.

For Dai Evans, working single-handed as a veterinary surgeon in Bruton-under-the Water, there's no time to relax.  Life is tough and unpredictable, and no vet can live a regular life with a routine day.  Up at night until the dawn hours ... out and about when all the world is asleep attending calving cows, sick horses, injured dogs and cats ... Dai needs a partner, badly.  He finds one, a young man who discovers there's a surprising amount to learn about general practice in a country district.

There are much larger troubles too; the village is under a death sentence as the town nearby needs water, and the village is to be flooded for a reservoir - a threat which affects the whole community but in particular, Dai's friend Steve Johns, whose grazing land is the best in the district and who seems unable to accepts its loss ...
