Lorna is now a prefect at Wynyards and determined to do well. Difficulties arise when Marigold, one of her stepsisters, gets into trouble, and Lorna has to tread carefully between home and school life. Now in her final school year, Lorna has her heart set on Oxford, but news from Madeira raises doubts about whether she can ever fulfil her dream of studying there. Kit, who is living at home while working as a journalist, and Auntie Kath offer loving support but not knowing what her future will hold can’t help being a strain for Lorna. Luckily, she has day trips out, exhilarating cookery sessions and some very welcome (and unexpected) visitors to help distract her. The family at Wynyards makes a welcome return in this tale of warm family life.
Amy has written a really good sequel to the Lorna books, set in both school and family, following the tradition of Elinor Brent-Dyer who did this so well.
