Mum and Dad were taking their time getting to the shelter tonight. What was keeping them? That Jerry was getting closer. More guns were firing now.  Where were they?  And then the whistling screams of bombs. Harry began to count. If you were still counting at ten, the bombs had missed you. The last thing he remembered was saying 'seven'.

Harry survives but his parents, his home, are gone. He can't bear the thought of being given to Cousin Elsie, who'd make such as fuss - so he goes away, where nobody knows him ...  So begins an incredible journey.  Harry is alone except for Don, the dog, bombed-out like himself, whom he finds on the beach.  Harry is a survivor, but there is one last battle he is not prepared for ...
