"Offer me diamonds or a pup and I'd choose the pup."

In fact, Joyce Stranger chose two - Janus, a Golden Retriever, and Puma, an Alsation.  And at first it looked as though she'd bought a load of trouble.  Janus seemed to be a chronic invalid and Puma, from whom she hoped to breed, suffered from morning sickness and phantom pregnancies!  But eventually, and against all odds, the patience and understanding paid off and today both dogs are not only happy, obedient housedogs but fequent winners in the show ring.

Joyce Stranger's moving and often hilarious account of her early 'dog days' will be irresistible to all her many readers, espcially those with dogs of their own.
