Spine and corners bumped.
Veronica, having realised the first of her ambitions and gained admission to the Sadler’s Wells Ballet School (told in A Dream of Sadler’s Wells), now sets about achieving her great objective – to dance a principal role at Covent Garden.
Once she has started work at the School, Veronica finds that she has much to learn; the ways of the School are strange to her and not all of the pupils are willing to welcome a new girl. She soon settles down, and learns to love the new life, although, at first, difficulties and disappointments are many, and minor triumphs few.
However, Veronica is a born dancer, and her talent, courage and determination, together with the encouragement she receives from the friends, takes her triumphantly to success.
